As one of their promises to consumers, Borlind refuse to test our products on animals or use genetically modified ingredients. The Story

Borlind was created by Annemarie Lindner, born and raised in Leipzig, Germany. As Europe was about to enter into World War II and Annemarie into adolescence, she developed a skin condition that has plagued teenagers for generations: acne. Annemarie began a decade-long search for a solution to her problem. At 26, she was referred to an esthetician who treated her with the direct application of herbal extracts on the skin. Miraculously, her skin began to clear. By 1958, Annemarie met Hermann Borner, the leading manufacturer of fine herbal remedy pharmaceuticals. He had been searching for someone to help him develop a line of natural skin care products made with only the finest ingredients, with the strictest quality control standards. This was the beginning of the Borlind Company as it exists today. The site for the new firm was at the edge of the Black Forest, a region with an abundant supply of extremely soft, unchlorinated natural spring water, essential to the overall quality of the Borlind products.

The Ingredients

At Borlind, only first pressings of plant extracts are used and water in the products comes from a natural German spring, in an area protected by national law from synthetic fertilizers and chemicals that could pollute groundwater. All products are petrochemical, pararen and cruelty free. Naturalness and sustainability are the perfect partnership, which is why Börlind uses suppliers who offer fair pay and working conditions and who do not use child labor, and they have been involved in social and ecological projects all over the world for many years. Borlind is certified by ECO CONTROL, a seal that is intended to reflect the very high standards the company demands of itself. In addition to questions about the type, origins and processing of raw materials, this seal includes far-reaching aspects such as social responsibility and sustainability in all areas of the company. The criteria of ECO CONTROL therefore go much further than the usual natural cosmetics certifications in numerous respects.
