Why It’s Okay To Be ‘Healthyish’?

‘Healthyish’ is the kind of lifestyle which cuts you a little slack. It’s not about beating yourself up when you get home from work, and you’re too tired for that home workout you were supposed to do. Diet

Usually, the hardest thing about a diet is to eliminate things that you eat or drink which are bad for you. However, the problem with taking things out of your life that you like, the majority of people will miss it and start to crave it. We’re not suggesting that it’s okay to eat a chocolate bar and a bag of crisps every day just because ‘you want too’, that’s still unhealthy. The aim of being ‘healthyish’ is to not be so hard on yourself when you don’t get it quite right.

Enjoy cooking delicious, comforting foods that just happen to be ‘kind of’ good for you too. If you enjoy something indulgent, offset that the next day by having a salad for lunch. It’s ingrained which foods are right for us, and which foods are a no-go. Having a good bill of health does not require your diet to be extreme, you should enjoy everything in moderation, and having a treat once in a while can be something you look forward to without experiencing ‘food guilt’!

Start with whatever exercise you can, introduce new movements gradually until you reach your goal.

Exercise

Pushing ourselves to strive for perfection when exercising could have the same effects as when we eliminate foods and crave them. We want to give up when we don’t achieve our goals after we’ve put in hard work. So, instead of going all guns blazing when exercising to lose weight and signing up for a gym membership just change small things in your life gradually. Any activity is better than none, and start by doing whatever you can.

For example, at some point in your life you have probably been told to take the stairs instead of the lift, but if you live on the 15th floor, this may not always be possible. Instead, take the lift to the 13th floor and walk the rest, or take it to a level one or two higher, then walk down.

Treat Yourself

Indulge, don’t be greedy. Allowing yourself little pleasures in life is what helps you get through a tough week or a long day.
